Frankfurter Sagen als Comic erzählt

Frankfurt's city history is full of exciting, amusing and surprising stories that can be re-told in different ways. Comic artist Manuel Tiranno has chosen a very entertaining and charming way to amuse the readers of the Rhine-Main section of the FAZ with historical and legends from Frankfurt since 2007. Every month he presents a new story, which is then published in four parts week by week. Already in 2010, a first anthology of Tiranno's comic sagas was published by Societäts Verlag. After this book enjoyed great popularity and in the almost two years after publication numerous new stories have been added, followed at the end of 2012 now "Sagenhaft unnerwegs II".

Once again we can accompany the grandfather and his granddaughter on their walks through Frankfurt. At the Römer, in the Nordend, on Berger Strasse, in Sachsenhausen or Oberrad, the old man tells the girl stories of quarrelling market women, of a journeyman stonemason in love whose courtship of the woman of his heart almost costs him his life, or of a supposedly haunted house on Römerberg. He tells of the battle between Frankfurt and Kronberg, reveals how a cunning tailor managed to escape a terrible court sentence and explains the story of the House of Alten-Limpurg. Death, greed, love, disobedience, war, tradition - all this is told here in a sometimes amusing, sometimes dark, but always charming way.

It is simply fun to go on a discovery tour through Frankfurt's history together with the grandfather and his granddaughter and to have numerous legends presented in such an affectionate way.
