Last summer, director Marco Petry (school) shot the cheeky teen comedy Doktorspiele in Frankfurt and the surrounding area, based on the novel by Jaromir Konecny. The book caused quite a stir, especially because of its very direct language. And the film is not exactly squeamish about it either. But the actors seem to have had a lot of fun with it, because you can clearly feel their joy in acting. Anyway, the cast is one of the great strengths of the comedy. In addition to leading man Merlin Rose, who was seen in a small supporting role in Wetlands in 2013, Petry was able to secure the services of sought-after young stars Maximilian von der Groeben (Fack Ju Göhte and Jannis Niewöhner (Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue), as well as the talented young actresses Lisa Vicari (Hell) and Olga von Luckwald (Ein Mann, ein Fjord). With his five young talents, director Marco Petry then returned to Frankfurt for the big German premiere to present the finished work to a large audience for the first time at the CineStar Metropolis.
But before it went into the cinema hall, the guests first had to walk the red carpet, past screaming fans and the press. There they had to sign autographs, pose for photos and answer questions. Besides the actors and the producers, singer Mateo, who contributed the title song to the film, as well as former DSDS winner Daniel Schuhmacher and Popstars winner Evy also took part in this procedure. There really came up in Frankfurt once again something like real premiere feeling - something that film fans in the Main metropolis may experience unfortunately far too rare.
In the cinema hall there was then first of all a short speech of the producers. But also Boris Rhein, Hessian Minister for Science and Culture, as well as city councillor Markus Frank did not miss the opportunity to express their joy that more and more filmmakers are discovering Hessen and especially Frankfurt as a film location. No wonder, since Doktorspiele again shows how well the Frankfurt skyline is suited as a film backdrop. After the film all present of the film team and the actors came then under enthusiastic applause of the public on the stage, whereby particularly Marco Petry was visibly pleased over the reaction of the guests to its work.
Whether Doktorspiele with the cinema public arrives just as well, will show up starting from 28.08.. Then the comedy runs not only in Frankfurt's cinemas.
