In moonlight on the shores of a mysterious lake, Prince Siegfried meets the enchanted swan-woman Odette. Completely enchanted by her beauty, he swears his allegiance to her. Much too late, he realizes that fate has quite different plans for him.
The ballet of ultimate beauty, with music of incomparable perfection, was born at the Bolshoi in 1877. In the dual role of the white swan Odette and her rival the black swan Odile, prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova exudes vulnerability and cunning through a first-rate technical tour de force. Next to her is the powerful and emotional Siegfried, Denis Rodkin. Accompanied by breathtaking scenes featuring the Bolshoi's ensemble, this is classical ballet at its very best.
Once again this season, the ballets have been specially recorded for the big screen, filmed with over ten cameras in HD and 5.1 sound. As a result, the Bolshoi broadcasts offer audiences the unique opportunity to be closer to the dancers than ever before. It also receives a special added value through bonus material, in the form of interviews with dancers and choreographers as well as a backstage tour, an exclusive look behind the scenes of the most renowned ballet company in the world.
