Theatre has been produced in the listed Naxoshalle for 20 years and music has always been an important part of what happens on stage. Now it is making its own way and the former machine hall also a place for music. The industrial monument made of glass, steel, stone and end wood, offers acoustics that are unique in the Rhine-Main area - according to the famous violinist Gidon Kremer. works by two composers of almost the same vintage, played by musicians from the ranks of the hr-Sinfonieorchester, the IEMA and the hr-Bigband: In the music of French composer Patrice Sciortino (b. 1922), the expressive form of primitivism collides with baroque lyricism. The works of this polymorphous individualist bring shrill, abstract melodies and disconcertingly extended playing techniques; they are delightfully mysterious yet strangely accessible. Opposite him is American contemporary Jimmy Giuffre (1921-2008), best known as a member of the legendary "Four Brothers" saxophone section of the Woody Herman Big Band and as the composer of the title of the same name - still one of the orchestra's biggest hits. The concert will feature Guiffre's Western Suite (1958), foregrounding his fine, impressionistic jazz chamber music inspired by the sound world of Debussy.
