From 10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.r respectively, the "PfennigBazar" will open its doors for the 14th time at Frankfurt's Dominican Monastery. The "second-hand department store for a good cause" has meanwhile achieved cult status in Frankfurt. Whether business outfits, evening wear, cocktail dresses, men's suits, casual wear or sought-after designer brands: Everyone will find what they are looking for here and support MS sufferers with their purchase. The range also includes household goods, toys, knick-knacks, costume jewellery, bags and shoes. The net proceeds go for the most part to the German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG) Hesse to finance offers for MS patients.
Whoever buys something at the PfennigBazar knows that they are helping above all MS patients in Frankfurt and Hesse. The DMSG Hessen has been organising the charity bazaar since 2004. However, this would not be possible without the honorary support of, among others, initiator Renate von Metzler (honorary chairwoman of the DMSG Hessen), idea giver Gerhild Börsig and the approximately 300 helpers. Since April, the helpers have been accepting donations at the collection dates, sorting them and packing them into boxes, and during the upcoming sales days they will be in action in a good 15 different sales departments of the "PfennigBazar". The indispensable organisational backbone of the PfennigBazar has been, above all, the Fermont forwarding company with its managing director Susie von Verschuer-Bär, who has been involved in the DMSG Hessen for many years. Together with her employees, Susie von Verschuer-Bär coordinates the collection dates on her company premises in Bockenheim and sets up the "second-hand department store for a good cause" in the Dominican monastery as early as Monday. Today, the PfennigBazar is an established and successful charity event with cult status in Frankfurt.
For the DMSG Hessen, the net proceeds from the PfennigBazar, of which it receives three quarters, are an indispensable source of income, primarily to finance counselling and therapy services for MS sufferers. One quarter goes to the hospice association St. Katharina. By the way: What is not sold, the DMSG Hessen donates to aid organizations that take care of needy families or homeless people
