An event unique in Germany will attract around 80,000 visitors to Mainz Volkspark on Sunday 18 June before the summer holidays. For one day, the green meadow will be transformed into a huge free amusement park. The sports youth of the Rhineland-Palatinate Sports Federation has been organising the children's festival for children and families since 1997 and is supported by over 500 voluntary helpers, numerous sports clubs and many committed companies in the region. The aim has always been to offer children a meaningful way to spend their free time and to set an example. A small break can be enjoyed by all visitors in front of one of the two large stages. This is where the big stars perform. Käpt'n Blaubär, the show with the mouse or newspaper monster Kruschel are happy to be guests at this huge event. Sportjugend mascot Twinkel may not be missing of course. Together with children's songwriter Oliver Mager, Twinkel sings and dances the hits from the Sportjugend's movement CD. Many sports groups prepare their own stage programme of acrobatics, dance or show for the children's festival and demonstrate their skills in front of a large audience. In addition, the winners of the Rock Da Jam Junior Contest show every year super choreographies to hip hop beats with which no one can sit still. The shows take place several times a day.
