The Eigenbetrieb für kommunale Aufgaben und Dienstleistungen (EAD) of the Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt invites all citizens to the 21st Environment and Family Day on Saturday, September 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the EAD depot at Sensfelderweg 33. City Treasurer André Schellenberg will open the festival with a welcoming speech at 11 a.m.
The EAD will once again offer Darmstadt residents a diverse program of events. As a potential employer, the municipal utility will provide information about attractive apprenticeships, present electric cars and e-bikes from its own fleet on the subject of sustainable urban mobility, and offer rides in its sweepers and waste collection vehicles. In addition, those interested can visit the workshop and be shown on the rollover simulator how to free oneself after an accident and avoid possible risks of injury.
Numerous partner companies will present their services and entice visitors with quizzes and hands-on activities. Zoo Vivarium Darmstadt will also be represented with a stand and will report on the latest developments in the native and exotic animal species kept there. As part of the mobile phone collection campaign "A mobile phone for the gorilla", visitors can donate disused mobile phones and thus contribute to the protection of the endangered mountain gorillas and other animal species.
In addition, many attractions await the children, such as the snotty play mobile, the hand puppet show, goal wall shooting in cooperation with SV Darmstadt 98, a bouncy castle, a carousel, a make-up tent, free ice cream as well as a bungee trampoline, which delights with a jump height of up to eight meters. In addition, those interested can watch the artistic design of a bus with professional spray techniques by young people under the guidance of the graduate designer Jörn Heilmann live at the graffiti workshop.
The public can use a free shuttle bus service between Justus Liebig House and Sensfelderweg to get there and back. The shuttle bus will take the public to the event site every half hour and pick them up again from there. Media representatives are also cordially invited to the Family Day.
Due to the Environment and Family Day, the EAD recycling station and the hazardous waste collection point will be closed on 15. September.
