Play based on motifs from the eponymous
collection of stories by Rudyard Kipling
Following the great success of our production of THE DUNGLE BOOK, we are very much looking forward to presenting the sequel requested by many theatre fans young and old, starting in autumn 2016:
Mowgli - once discovered and raised as a foundling by the wild animals of the Indian jungle - now lives among his own kind in the human settlement on the edge of the jungle. But he is always drawn back to his old, animal friends.
Wild excitement reigns as the big rains suddenly fail and the entire jungle threatens to dry up. The Bandarlog monkey tribe is guarding a big secret and Kaa the python is suddenly acting very strangely.
Enjoy a host of new Mowgli adventures with the majestic elephants, the wild monkey horde, the weird vultures and, of course, Bagheera the panther and Baloo the bear. And then there's Shir-Khan, the wily tiger, and his partner Tabaqui, the jackal: the two of them have a score to settle with Mowgli.
In his great story collection "The Second Jungle Book" Rudyard Kipling continues his famous Mowgli tales from "The Jungle Book". However, this is not a chronological continuation of events, but rather a collection of complementary adventure stories, each self-contained, about Mowgli and his animal companions.
The independent theatre Junge Bühne Mainz has developed a theatre version which combines narrative motifs from the book into an exciting stage sequel for young and old.
