On the weekend of June 15 and 16, Seligenstadt will have a reason to celebrate: Glaabsbräu, the oldest brewery in southern Hesse, will be 275 years old. Founded in 1744, the brewery is one of the few remaining family-run breweries in Hesse. A traditional family brewery has become a start-up with history. The brewery has completely reinvented itself and is now one of the most modern breweries in Germany. And this mixture of tradition and modernity must of course be celebrated!
The anniversary will be celebrated on Seligenstadt's market square after the arrival of the Kaufmannzug, the historic Seligenstädter Geleit 2019. Visitors can expect a colorful program with live music. There is something for every taste, from traditional music to pop-chanson. Fresh Glaabsbräu and regional specialties, also from various food trucks, will provide for the physical well-being. Brewery tours are offered every hour. And so that you can still combine the celebration with a relaxed stroll around town, some shops will be open until 4pm on Saturday.
