The still young solo dance festival Solocoreografico brings works by international dance professionals to our stage. Emerging artists from France, Italy, Israel, Sweden, Spain, Brazil and Australia showcase their versatile dance solos. Two established ballet greats Marco Goecke (Staatsballett Hannover) and Jacopo Godani (Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company) also contribute exclusive solos. After its kick-off in January 2018 with a solo showcase, the International Solo Dance Festival 'Solocoreografico - Frankfurt' will already take place over five days this May. The festival was launched in 2014 in Turin, Italy by choreographer Raffaele Irace. Now, with a stand-alone Frankfurt edition, the festival is expanding its network and putting its annual event on Frankfurt's dance calendar.
And Frankfurt can use more dance and festival! Other cities, such as Stuttgart and Leipzig have long been dedicated to the special format of the solo with their own festivals. Frankfurt gets its very own model with 'Solocoreografico' with a program of solos of different aesthetics and lengths, as well as prizes for best choreography and best performance. Celebrating the dance solo as an individual artistic expression, focused and unique. From all over Europe and beyond, dancers will show their pieces from the whole spectrum of dance arts in Frankfurt.
Solocoreografico presents varied and exciting dance solos on two evenings. Thereby it offers a platform for young choreographers and dancers as well as experienced professionals to show themselves in front of a broad audience as well as organizers of other festivals. In cooperation with the Office for Multicultural Affairs Frankfurt, there will also be a variety of dance workshops with offers for professionals and dance enthusiasts.
