Germany's up-and-coming film scene meets in Mainz
From June 23 to 25, 2017, the Bundes.Festival.Film. will make a guest appearance at the Mainzer Kammerspiele. One of the largest and most renowned film festivals celebrates its 30th anniversary, 500 guests from all over Germany are expected.
The Bundes.Festival.Film. comes to the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate for the second time and will guest at the Mainzer Kammerspiele from 23 to 25 June 2017. After 2016, Mainz will thus once again be the centre of the German up-and-coming film scene for three days.
The Bundes.Festival.Film. - first held in 1988 under the name Wettbewerbsforum Jugend und Video - is one of the largest and most renowned media festivals in the German-speaking world. It marks the joint conclusion and festive climax of the two federal competitions, the German Youth Film Award and the German Generations Film Award.
Thomas Hartmann, director of the Bundes.Festival.Film.: "After the successful premiere last year, we are looking forward to a second edition of the festival in Mainz. This year we can look back on 30 festival years. More than ever, the festival is a mirror of living youth and film culture in Germany. This year, we will once again present visitors with a range of content and style of films from the non-commercial sector."
Over 800 productions take part in the two film competitions each year. The best works are nominated for the Bundes.Festival.Film. which sees itself as a forum for surprising film ideas, exciting storytelling and authentic protagonists. What is special about the event is its intergenerational approach. Here, young and older filmmakers meet to discuss their work.
All nominated productions are shown in public screenings and awarded prizes.
