The Rauenthaler Traditionsverein has set itself the goal to maintain Rauenthaler customs, not to let the memory of the history of our homeland and our residents fade, to protect the appearance of our village and - where necessary - to support this to the best of our ability.
The Rauenthaler Kirchweih- und Weinfest, also called Rauenthaler Weinfest or simply Rauenthaler Kerb, is one of the oldest Kirchweih and wine festivals in the Rheingau.
The settlement on the Rauenthaler Berg was founded in the 8th century; first mentioned in a document in 1274. With the completion of the Catholic church St. Antonius Eremita in 1491, the people of Rauenthal celebrated their "Kirchweih" for the first time. In addition, according to records from the book "Beyträge zur Mainzer Geschichte" by Joh. Peter Schunk, published in 1789, the "Rauenthaler Weinmarkt" (Rauenthal wine market) took place every year - with interruptions. In 1867, the Rauenthal wine gained fame when it was chosen as the "best wine in the world" at the Paris World Exhibition.
