Once a year, the Schlossplatz becomes a "world stage": On Saturday, 10. September 2016, the Office for Immigration and Integration organizes the traditional summer festival for the 41st time.
In the eyes of the organizer, it is a festival of encounters, it should make people curious about their fellow human beings and encourage them to search for common ground. African drum beats, Latin American rhythms, dances and songs from Greece, Portugal, Turkey or Sri Lanka are therefore part of the international performances year after year. A cross-generational stage programme with dances, folklore and songs ensures that the eyes and ears do not miss out.
Culinary specialities, colourful folklore performances, handicrafts and information about "country and people" from four continents attract visitors to the Schlossplatz. The offer is intended to arouse curiosity about foreign and unknown things. At the stands, the associations will also offer international specialities and give the interested public an insight into their culture. Arts and crafts as well as information on the countries of origin and various areas of coexistence round off the offer.
The Office for Immigration and Integration has once again invited all Wiesbaden residents and visitors to the city to experience for themselves how exciting an insight into other cultures can be.
The organizers are pleased that the Schlachthof with its "Boundless series" is a guest and can present three bands. The series offers international music beyond Anglo-Saxon listening habits, because music and art have always been engines of encounter, enrichment and mutual appreciation.
Program
Kel Assouf from Belgium/Nigeria: The band describes itself as Touareg rock-and-rollers. Indeed, this is where the Sahara meets Jimi Hendrix.
Chacan: The nine-piece band is considered one of the most danceable and energetic salsa combos in the region and will play to close.
Afro Cuban Tigers of India: Wiesbaden has another new world music band. The Tigers have already gained a good reputation and present funky Afro beats
