The Bundesäppelwoifest in Steinheim am Main, a district of Hanau, is dedicated to apple wine, the national drink of Hesse. The Steinheimer Bundesäppelwoifest begins with the tapping of the first barrel "Äppelwoi" by the king and queen. This is followed as highlights on Saturday by the coronation of the Bundesäppelwoi queen and on Monday by the coronation of the Bundesäppelwoi king.
