The album was recorded by Niklas Berglöf at Redmount Studios in Stockholm, and mixed by producer and sound engineer Markus Lindberg. The formation of A Projection in 2013 was basically an act of desperation. All of the band members were in secure employment that allowed them to live comfortably - and yet they all felt an ever-growing, inner emptiness, a longing for music, for art, and for the exciting pulse of the big city. So they decided to hang up their office careers and follow their true calling, to live an artist's life and make music. Shortly thereafter, A Projection was launched.
Because of their atmospherically dense, often unpredictable, and sometimes downright massive live performances, the band quickly achieved underground cult status. Comparisons were made in the music press to bands such as Editors, The Cure, Swans and Depeche Mode. Then in 2015, the debut album "Exit" was released on Tapete Records. On the follow-up "Framework", the band spins a tangled web of eighties post-punk, energetic indie rock and alternative electronic music. The goal was to create an album that musically captures the essence of restlessness and isolation in the big city. Vocalist Isak Eriksson's down-to-earth lyrics, marked by deep self-knowledge, are framed by effective guitar sounds, drum thunderstorms and monumental synthesizers. Now, "Light and Dark" is certainly anything but an unusual theme, but the recording process the band opted for was not a bit traditional: "We wanted to record some songs under the effect of extreme sleep deprivation. The songs are meant to convey feelings of disorientation or exhaustion, and to really capture and capture them, we had to do more than just experiment with sounds and musical textures. We had to embody those feelings through and through. Anyway, it was a very intense experience."
