The lure of distance does not redeem its promises. Loneliness strikes down, freezes you in place. Remaining motionless in a place of passage brings forth loose encounters. Short episodes attach themselves to the structure of Franz Schubert's song cycle and follow the character of the composed interpretation by Wiesbaden composer Hans Zender.
With the first ballet production in the 2017/18 season, Tim Plegge again embarks on a choreographic journey. The ballet "Eine Winterreise" is in the tradition of his story ballets, but leaves the previously explored path of stringent narration. "A Winter Journey" tells of becoming and passing away, of longing and a state of searching that can arise from contemplative engagement with oneself.
Dramaturgically accompanied by Esther Dreesen-Schaback, in costumes by Judith Adam and set design by Sebastian Hannak, questions of becoming and passing oscillate in "Eine Winterreise". Loneliness, longing for love and comfort interweave into a grand tableau of human emotions and find expression in the new ballet.
