Punk rock may have originated in the big cities, but it was made not least for the suburbs. Punk rock became the escape point for suburban kids bored out of their minds in the face of miles of city blocks, interrupted only here and there by a supermarket or gas station.
In such a wasteland, Adolescents emerged a little over 25 years ago. Too young to understand the upheaval at the end of the Reagan era, they were more concerned with the politics of their immediate environment, where individuality was frowned upon and subordination was the order of the day instead.
To this day, the Adolescents - incidentally the blueprint of all Orange County punk rock bands - have remained true to their melodic, yet no less gruff punk rock - impressively demonstrated most recently on their latest effort, "La Vendetta."
The same can rightly be said about T.S.O.L. (short for True Sounds Of Liberty), who have been active again for quite some time. A double headline show of ur-Californian American hardcore punk!
