The new production wowed over 180.000 audience members and will tour again in 2019
The new production of the global hit AFRICA! AFRIKA! celebrated its acclaimed premiere in Berlin in January 2018. With the last performance on 20 May in Frankfurt am Main, the five-month tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland has now come to an end. André Heller passed the baton for the first time to his long-time companion Georges Momboye for this new production. Directed by the latter, in the spirit of Heller, the result is an infectious show with lots of live music, lots of dance, spectacular acrobatics, extravagant sensory experiences and plenty of joie de vivre. The show spectacle, which lasts over two hours, shows the diversity of Africa, throws light on the past and modernity, but above all it transports a special, unique "spirit", which many (rightly) describe as "pure joie de vivre".
AFRIKA! AFRIKA! once again presents the balancing act between artistic present and tradition-rich heritage from the "continent of wonder" in the new show - with an ensemble of the best talents from Ethiopia to the Ivory Coast, from Morocco to South Africa, as well as Afro-Americans and Afro-Europeans in the "diaspora" who combine African talent and temperament with the cultural influences of other continents. The show will tour again in 2019.
