Akut 20, Festival of Jazz
30 - 25 - 20, three anniversaries in one fell swoop: 1987 was the premiere of the Acute Festival in the premises of Mainz University, for 25 years now it has its permanent place in the Frankfurter Hof in the heart of Mainz's old town and on 25. November it will take place for the 20th time. The Akut is and remains a festival that - with an international cast - presents exciting and innovative musical projects from the border area of jazz, avant-garde and rock, which like to take off for good at the very big European festivals afterwards.

TECTONICS (Elliott Sharp and Eric Mingus)
.American multi-instrumentalist Elliott Sharp is a longtime contributor to the Acute Festival, and he teams up with New York-born vocalist and composer Eric Mingus to present his latest project on the borderline between jazz, electronics and blues, with Mingus adding and integrating a vocal component that is a kind of vocal synthesis of Tom Waits and Captain Beefheart on Tectonics.

NOW (Angelika Niescier, Simone Zanchini and Stefano Senni)
.Cologne-based saxophonist and composer Angelika Niescier, winner of this year's Albert Mangelsdorff Prize, has been one of the most interesting and musically versatile musical personalities in European jazz for years.
Together with the two Italian musicians Stefano Senni (double bass) and Simone Zanchini (accordion) it is called "Jazz it" between contemplative immersion and expressive high voltage.

HANG EM HIGH (Lucien Dubuis, Alfred Vogel and Bond)

With the Swiss alto saxophonist and double bass clarinettist Lucien Dubuis - known in Germany, among others, for his collaboration with Marc. known in Germany for his collaborations with Marc Ribot, among others -, Polish two-string slide bassist and electronic musician Bond, and Austrian drummer Alfred Vogel, who played with Greens at last year's Akut 19, Tres Testosterones take the stage to close this year's festival. They casually defy all musical genre boundaries with what they themselves call "low western rock ambient jazz punk with live electronics". It's going to be loud and electrifying.
