Escovedo's new album, "The Crossing," tells the story of Salvo from Italy and Diego from Mexico who meet in Texas to explore their "promised land" and dream big of rock and roll once again. Of course, disillusionment quickly sets in in the face of Trump's restrictive policies. Flight, racism and disillusionment are Escovedo's themes, which he also ties to his own history. With all that he has perceived around him for decades and that threatens to culminate under the current U.S. administration, Escovedo, who is assured of the esteem of many famous colleagues, does not want to bury his hopes. "I still believe that music has the power to change the world," he is quoted as saying.
