My Germany is a statement. A thoroughly personal one. And above all, one that was actually completely unthinkable back when it all began: Alfons remembers: "Germany, that was not exactly the destination of dreams for young Frenchmen" - to put it mildly! 'I want to go to America' - clearly. 'I'm going to Siberia' - interesting! But: 'I'm going to Germany' - a case for the psychiatrist!, tells "der Deutschen liebster Franzose" (FAZ) about the imprint in his youth. "But something happened the other day: The day came when I had spent half my life in Germany. And I was surprised to discover that my reality had changed completely. It is now no longer just the country of people who wear socks in their sandals, it has long since become ,my Germany' as well."
From this reality, the reporter with puffy mic, track jacket and accent has made a stage program - and titled it just that: My Germany. In an entertaining mélange of cabaret, theatre evening and poetic moments, Alfons dedicates himself to the current news situation with a wink, as well as small finds from the everyday life of his adopted country. But he promises one thing: no one in the audience will be interviewed. The famous Puschelmikro is only to be seen on the screen. And of course Alfons will bring along a selection of his best films, his notorious reportages from the land of poets and thinkers, allotment gardeners and backwoodsmen, always in search of the true essence of the Germans. Because that's exactly what he's taken to: "I told my friends back then: 'Don't worry, I'll only stay until I understand the Germans.' - Well. I'm still here!"
