The women's music network Melodiva and the Fabrik present two female bands in one evening: the "Sir Bradley Quartet" from Hamburg and the "Alison Rayner Quintet" (ARQ) from London. ARQ is a vital and creative jazz quintet around bassist Alison Rayner, who many in Germany still know from her time with the legendary "Guest Stars". Described by the Guardian as "spirited, eloquent and graceful", ARQ's music is inventive and vibrantly colourful. Alison Rayner (b) Deirdre Cartwright (g), Steve Lodder (p), Diane McLoughlin (sax), Buster Birch (dr).
The "Sir Bradley Quartet" plays "raw blues, crude constructions, the lyrical, the fragile, but also radiant latin groove". The sound is oriented towards contemporary jazz. The themes are inspired by new music, jazz or pop with an always strong emotional expression. Doro Offermann (sax), Maria Rothfuchs (kb, comp), Luise Determann (g) and Annette Kayser (dr).
