The road to Amy Shark's debut album "Love Monster" was long. The Australian had already written her own songs as a teenager and later gained her first live experiences in the pub scene of her hometown Gold Coast, Queensland. But then she came to a dead end:
She released some self-produced singles on her own, for which she also made the videos herself, but unfortunately she didn't achieve the necessary attention and was forced to take a regular job.
First with "Adore," she wrote the song in 2016 that would completely change her life. The single sensationally shot to number two on the Australian charts, going triple platinum and giving her the international career she no longer thought possible. Amy Shark owes this to her consistent approach and a great producer: Like every track, "Adore" was first subjected to the campfire test before the elaborate production began. Together with Grammy winner M-Phazes, who has also worked for Eminem or Kimbra, she developed the luxurious equipment with fat basses, fine guitar lines, straight beats and everything else that supports the special lyrics.
From all of this emerges a haunted indie pop that sings of Shark's peculiar dream world.
Throughout, the record's individual songs are magically interwoven, resonating on the same wavelength and forming a wonderful unity. This is partly due to her great songwriting talent, and partly due to the celebrity support she has received for it.
