Anastacia first began her career as a dancer, appearing on Club MTV and in music videos such as Salt-N-Pepa's "Everybody Get Up" and "Twist and Shout." In 1999, she made it to the finals of MTV's talent show The Cut, where she attracted the attention of record labels. She signed to Daylight, Epic's custom label, and recorded her debut album Not That Kind here, which was released in 2000. It reached the top ten in eight European and Far Eastern countries and sold more than two million copies. Her proper American debut came with Freak of Nature in 2002, which was followed by an album under her own name in 2004.
After a long hiatus, her new album Heavy Rotation was released in Germany in October 2008. November 2009 saw the launch of Here Come the Girls, a joint tour of the UK with singers Chaka Khan and Lulu. The program included their own hits as well as cover versions. The tour continued a year later, this time including a concert in Ireland. Instead of Chaka Khan, Heather Small, the lead singer of the band M People, now sang. On 9 November 2012, Anastacia released It's a Man's World, a covers album. On it, she covered rock classics by Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, and the Foo Fighters, among others. In December 2012, she toured Germany with Night of the Proms.
On 4 April 2014, the singer released Stupid Little Things, the first single from her latest studio album, Resurrection, which was released in May 2014. Anastacia is among the superstars with a captivating, poignant and soulful voice
