The animal of the year for 2017 was already decided on January 20. It is - of course - the Trump animal! It has amazing abilities: it can destroy relationships with its tiny hands in just 140 characters; get right-wing populists to work together, under the paradoxical motto: "Nationalists of all countries unite!"; it creates alternative facts; and it's orange.
Naturally, not only was the animal of the year chosen, there were other choices - many a cross was made in the process.
The election of the Federal President, on the other hand, was reminiscent of Bayern Munich - there, too, presidents are only elected if there are no opposing candidates.
Much more exciting than the question of whether Martin Schulz can walk on water with the SPD was the question of how far off the mark the opinion polls were this time.
And above all this question: who was this Luther everyone is talking about in the Reformation year? Was it this footballer Luther Matthäus?
It was an exciting year, the range of topics almost inexhaustible - let yourself be surprised who and what Anny Hartmann exposes in her annual review. Witty, charming and intelligent, she rehashes the events of the past year.
The longer you listen to Anny Hartmann, the more you wonder: we got all that behind us in 2017?
That leaves you at a loss for words .
Anny Hartmann, thankfully, does not. Not only is she a knowledgeable tour guide through the abysses of politics, she's also not one to mince words. That's why her review of the year is so much fun!
In doing so, she doesn't even dwell on sideshows, but always puts her finger right in the middle of the wound. Where it hurts the most.
