Freiburg bassist Arne Huber calls his new CD "Im Echten Leben". Boom! With a tried and tested toolbox of saxophone, piano, bass and drums, he musically opens the door to everyday life. The title of his CD is an invitation to anyone who is looking for an unbiased soundtrack to life, without wanting to let the rigid rituals of a genre dictate the pace. "Im Echten Leben" is already the third recording of the quartet. Sharp in its contours, soft in its colours and of delicate precision, each of the new songs is in itself a negotiation of a sound aesthetic anchored in classical music with a vocabulary that comes from jazz. Unlike similar formations, the Arne Huber Quartet has no common social background. Huber lives in Freiburg, Rückert in New York, Landolf in Basel and Böhm in Cologne. Four cities, three countries, two continents on one CD. It could hardly be more comprehensive. A CD like real life.
