Take a tour of the "Black and White" exhibition at the mpk

"Black as ebony, white as snow" - with this title the Museum Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern (mpk), Museumsplatz 1, invites visitors on Sunday, 24. February, at 11 o'clock to the art (early) piece. Black and white are opposites. Despite their opposites, their interplay results in a special charm, as already described in the fairy tale with Snow White's ebony-black hair and white skin. Although artists have the entire variety of colours at their disposal, they also like to make use of the qualities of black, white and their mixed colour, grey. The effects and meanings these achromatic colors take on will be explored in a tour of the exhibition with curators Jessica Neugebauer and Sabrina Wilkin.

In its fifth inventory sample, "Between Black and White," the mpk presents artworks from the 20th and 21st centuries in which the special qualities of achromatic colors come to the fore. Here the "characterless" grey opens up a space, black and white join together in a dancing rhythm to form patterns, or light is reflected on smooth black, revealing what is hidden. An integrated cabinet exhibition on the Dutch artist Lon Pennock shows drawings and models as thematic complements to a sculpture presented in the outdoor area of the mpk.

After the tour, visitors can expect a breakfast buffet. Registration is required by Thursday, 14 February at the latest, by calling 0631 3647-201; tickets are only available in advance at the museum box office or can be ordered bindingly at info@mpk.bv-pfalz.de. Adults pay 15 euros for admission and breakfast, children six euros and families (two adults with two children up to 12 years) 35 euros.
