Young and old are invited to look over the shoulders of the finger-skilled specialists on both holidays, to chat with them and to marvel at what, not so long ago, you could and had to produce everywhere in your immediate neighbourhood, if not in your own family, with your own hands' work. Knowledge of materials and tools as well as centuries of experience were needed and "how it used to be", you can experience on both holidays.
Particularly families but also hiking or cycling groups will find the Gruberhof in Raibacher Tal 22 in Groß-Umstadt an ideal destination, because not only "crafts and live music", but also an amazing museum, history and coziness invite you to stay.
In the "Kaufmannsladen" children can again have a nibble bag put together and buy for small money, of course, the club baker "shoots" on Pentecost Sunday again delicious sourdough bread in the stone oven, which will then be sold in the afternoon. Here, too, watching is expressly welcome. In between, the tour through the bourgeois home and the museum is worthwhile, guided tours through the exhibition rooms are possible at any time. Especially recommended is the since Easter completely redesigned exhibition on "Jewish Life in Groß-Umstadt."
Tasty spit roast, bratwurst or paprika grill spoil the palates, soft drinks, home-pressed Äppelwoi, Umstädter wine, draft beer and fair trade coffee to the home-baked cake make the stay as always also culinary pleasure. As always, all products are "organic - regional - fair".
On both Whitsun holidays is open from 11 am to 6 pm, admission is free. And if you like and want to experience the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival, you're in the right place on Monday afternoon from 1pm. For about three hours, "CREEDENCE forever" brings the superhits but also lesser-known titles to the ear, presented in the authentic, "handmade" sound of the 70s - without frills. So, pure fun!
