The four young saxophonists Christina Bernard (soprano saxophone), Ann-Kathrin Grammel (alto saxophone), Annalena Neu (tenor saxophone) and Regina Reiter (baritone saxophone) got to know each other during their joint saxophone studies at the University of Music Würzburg and unite their great passion for chamber music in the Audax Saxophone Quartet.
The ensemble has already been awarded the Wolfgang Fischer and Maria Fischer Flach Prize of the same name twice at the chamber music competition and subsequently performed concerts at the Würzburg Residence. In the summer of 2019 and 2021, the four young musicians were allowed to participate in the International Chamber Music Campus of Jeunesses Musicales at Schloss Weikersheim and work on their versatile repertoire with the renowned chamber music greats Heime Müller, Günter Pichler, Dirk Mommertz, Marianna Shirinyan as well as the members of the Kuss Quartet and Cuarteto Casals.
In November 2019, they participated in the Bad Homburg Master Class for Chamber Music with Prof. Angelika Merkle, Prof. Tim Vogler and Dipl. Tonmeister Christian Starke. When they participated again in Bad Homburg in 2021, the quartet was awarded the sponsorship prize associated with a professional sound recording. The resulting debut CD was released in May 2022. In April 2022, the ensemble was a guest at the Heidelberger Frühling and gave numerous concerts throughout Heidelberg as part of the re:start program.
