Ax Genrich, the forefather of psychedelic krautrock became the guitarist of Guru Guru in 1970, with whom he recorded the first five records. Without a doubt, this period shaped his guitar style. In 1979 he founded the group Rif, which was his most successful band besides Guru Guru so far. In the mid-90s, Ax revisited the underground days, first with Uli Krug and Erwin Ditzner as Psychedelic Guitar, then with Walt Bender and Mario Fadani as Ax Genrich & Band. In 2003, they reunited with Mani Neumeier as Psychedelic Monsterjam, along with Dave Schmidt, bass, later playing some gigs with Dave's band Zone Six. When the live CD Spontaneous Combustion was released on Horst Porkert's Sunhair label in early 2009, he encouraged him to continue with Ax Genrich & Band.
