Always, says Axel Hacke, God was for him a melancholy old gentleman who wanted to create something great, but has to realize that he has made irreparable mistakes. In "Die Tage, die ich mit Gott verbrachte" Hacke describes his encounter with this creator, who is unhappy about the imperfection of his own work, now flees from his loneliness and seeks consolation from, of all people, mankind.
A story as great as it is spun, full of the strangest events, cheerful and very serious at the same time - quite the thing for our times, when a Hacke reading can never hurt anyway. Because every evening with this author is a grab bag full of the most diverse stories, here you meet not only God, but also the white negro Wumbaba, the little King December and the sad refrigerator Bosch, you hear world views of all kinds from the "Columnist Manifest", you meet Paola, the wife of the narrator, and Luis, his son - and (because much of what Hacke recites could come from his own life) perhaps even himself.
