The theme of "turning times" is echoed in the deeply moving music of the Naghash Ensemble, which brings to life the poems of Mkrtich Naghash, a medieval Armenian poet, priest and mystic. The origins of these texts date back to the 15th century, a time of great upheaval, violence and expulsions of the Armenian people.
texts that have lost none of their relevance even today, half a millennium later, especially as the Armenian people are currently seeking a new political turning point. The Naghash Ensemble combines folk Armenian sounds with new classical music, post-minimalism and elements of rock and jazz. Even though the music is hard to categorize stylistically, it is always very moving and enchants the audience.
