It is the 1960s. The Braun family lives a conventional life between their own bakery and family domesticity. When daughter Sabine confesses to her mother that she is pregnant by Michael König, mother Ursula pushes for marriage. The König family, on the other hand, lives in a kind of commune and has only been back in Germany for a few months. Ethnologist Johannes König and botanist Anni Koch-König lived and researched in Borneo for many years. It was there that their son Michael was born, with whom they now live in an artists' village and maintain a free lifestyle. Mother Anni is a modern, emancipated woman who is successful as a scientist and publishes books. Ursula, on the other hand, embodies the traditional image of a woman and takes care of her husband, household and child with passion. Sabine and Michael desire the blessing of both sets of parents for their union and arrange a family reunion. At this meeting, two worlds collide. In the free-spirited hippie world of the Koch kings, free love is celebrated, drugs are consumed and political awakening is celebrated. Father Brown, on the other hand, clings to the patriarchal structure and Mother Brown does not question her way of life either. This leads to incomprehension on all sides, until not only the fathers, but also Michael and Sabine quarrel. Can there still be a wedding? And will the parents ever get along? Only one thing is certain, the story ends surprisingly ...
