The festivities will take place from August 17, 2024 to August 25, 2024. The Bad Vilbel market is considered the largest folk festival in the Wetterau region of Hesse. The festivities are held on the fairground in Bad Vilbel. The tradition, which has been closely associated with the town since its beginnings, begins every year on the Saturday before the third Sunday in August and lasts for nine days. However, the market is only active on seven days, with Wednesday and Thursday being rest days. The origins of this popular event date back to 1820.
An essential part of the market is community participation. Before the market opens, there is a large parade through the town center to the fairground on Saturday, in which numerous local clubs and groups take part. On the first Sunday, the Protestant parish organizes a special church service for the residents and showmen. Monday afternoon is transformed into an afternoon for children, with games, theater performances and presentations by children. The eagerly awaited cattle market takes place every Tuesday (district cattle show) and attracts a lot of attention. Local livestock breeders present a variety of animals, including cattle, horses, sheep, goats, poultry, rabbits and cows. Friday is known as Children's Day and offers discounted prices on rides. On this day, senior citizens are also treated to a lively afternoon meeting in the marquee. The "Evening of Clubs" on Saturday entertains visitors and provides an insight into the activities of local clubs. On Sunday afternoon, residents of Bad Vilbel have the chance to win trips through a raffle, followed by an impressive fireworks display late in the evening.
