With the Gismo Graf Trio, Talking Hot Frankfurt and a Midnight Session by the Barrelhouse Jazzband
The format is as well-known and popular as its protagonists: When every autumn the Barrelhouse Jazzband invites you to a concert and party at the Alte Oper, a great celebration is in store for everyone who loves swing, hot jazz and the blues. In 2019, the band around its long-time leader Reimer von Essen will once again bring together a formidable line-up of the international jazz scene on the stage of the Great Hall, before the party continues with live music in the foyers from 11pm (and happily until two in the morning!). This year's guests from New Orleans are vibraphonist Jason Marsalis and singer Tricia Boutté. They will be joined by proven wind players: Tony Lakatos, who comes from Hungary and has been celebrated for many years as one of the leading jazz saxophonists not only in his adopted home country of Germany, the young trumpeter Malo Mazurié from Paris, who has already won numerous awards, and trombonist Marek Michalak, an icon of the Krakow jazz scene.
