Lina, actress, visits her brother Matthias, a dedicated teacher. They need to talk: What's next for Mama Helga? Matthias, in his second marriage, finally lives happily together with his dream woman, the former globetrotter Katharina, to whom he had proposed in vain as a student. Always in need of money, the young documentary filmmaker Carl, a former student of Matthias, lives with them. - An unwanted pregnancy and the mother's state of health cause the living conditions to dance.
In the theatre project "BE FREE, ALWAYS! ... A family drama" tells the story of two women and two men who - in the field of tension between the desire for freedom, self-realization and unconditional self-determination on the one hand and the need for emotional support and the necessary assumption of responsibility on the other - try to shape their lives.
The special thing: The four actors* developed the play scene by scene themselves over months through a series of improvisations. The director provided a basic constellation of characters, a back story and a conflict situation, which formed the starting point for each scene to be improvised. With each scene, each LIVE-ACT in front of the audience, the story of Katharina, Lina, Matthias and Carl took more and more shape. From six hours of scenic material - radically shortened, condensed and dramaturgically structured - a "weekend family saga" emerges.
