"Braun werden" is a coming-of-age play in which right-wing radicalism doesn't initially have an ugly face. He's not even immediately recognizable. It comes across as a young woman who is immediately sympathetic to everyone. In a way that is partly subtle, partly aggressive, the viewer is asked about his own personal limits: "Where do I stand and when do I stand up?" questioned. "Am I rapper or eco, hipster or mainstream or something else entirely? What do I put up with to feel like I belong? Do I tend to turn left or turn right?"
Besides the somewhat quirky mother-son constellation in the defused "Sister-in-law Wanted" format, the new girlfriend seems refreshingly normal at first. At some point, however, the laughter gets stuck in the throat of every viewer. When would have been the point wan you yourself "stopp" said?
