The author of "Crazy" with a story from Kathmandu With "Crazy", Benjamin Lebert wrote one of the great popular successes of the late 20th century almost 20 years ago. Translated into 33 languages, filmed by Hans Christian Schmid. Further novels followed. Lebert spent some time in a children's home in Nepal for an aid organisation. Now S. Fischer Verlag is publishing his novel, which tells of these children and their lives: "The Darkness between the Stars". It is the last days before the earthquake in Nepal, Kathmandu in April 2015. Shakti, Achanda and Tarun live in a home that is a kind of home for them. They dream of friendship, the foster family, a motorcycle, they experience an inkling of happiness. Their parents had sold them into forced labour and prostitution, at some point they fled. They are led to believe that they will be fine now, but of course they know better. They are alive, they trust no one, they are looking for a way through the darkness.

The author in conversation with hr2 literary editor Alf Mentzer. Text source and further information about this event: http://literaturhaus-frankfurt.de/programm/termine/benjamin-lebert-die-dunkelheit-zwischen-den-sternen-2017-06-29/
