"Beuys - Kressnig - Spemann . and their sculptures in urban space" is the title of an exhibition that runs from January 20 to March 2. March at the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden, Schulberg 10.
The exhibition, a cooperation between Pro Arte Publica e.V. and the Wiesbaden Cultural Office, builds an imaginary bridge between the works of the three artists Joseph Beuys, Eric Kressnig and Wolf Spemann exhibited at the Kunsthaus and their artworks permanently installed in Wiesbaden's public space. The curators Gottfried Hafemann, Björn Lewalter and Erhard Witzel were particularly interested in establishing a relationship between the sculptures, which are hardly known due to their hidden location in Wiesbaden's outdoor space, and the works of the three artists exhibited in the Kunsthaus. The exemplarily selected works clarify the aesthetic and conceptual approach of the artists and create an understanding of their artistic approach. The goal is to develop a better understanding of the content and ideas behind outdoor art and to integrate it more fully into the consciousness of Wiesbaden residents.
The exhibition will open on Saturday, January 19, at 5 p.m. at Kunsthaus Wiesbaden, Schulberg 10. City Councilor Helmut Nehrbaß will welcome guests, and the curators will speak about the artists' work. The exhibition is on view March 2. Opening hours are Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In the supporting program on Sunday, January 20, 11:30 a.m., Gottfried Hafemann will talk with Eric Kressnig about his work. On Thursday, February 14, 6 p.m., there will be a guided tour of the artist with Dr. Wolf Spemann. On Sunday, February 3, 11:30 a.m., and Thursday, February 21, 6 p.m., there will be curator tours. Admission to the exhibition and events at the Kunsthaus is free.
