Billy the Kid, the infamous gunslinger of the Wild West, is really still almost a kid in this play. In the sleepy town of "Freshwater" he has robbed a bank and taken the cheeky Lucy hostage. She, in turn, is glad something is finally happening. Locked in and surrounded, Billy makes his demand: he wants to duel Erp, the town's sheriff. While Erp pursues his own interests, Lucy manages to get behind Billy's gunslinger facade: She meets an insecure boy whose father has abandoned the family and who is looking for a fight against his mother's new boyfriend. In the end, however, everything is just like in the real Western and everyone gets what they deserve.
