The brilliant blue men (and women) are coming back to Frankfurt

"Bluevolution" is the name of the brand-new show by the Blue Man Group, which combines popular classics by the ingenious blue men with innovative content. From April to June and then in October 23, the Blue Man Group will make guest appearances with the beat of the new program in Leipzig, Munich, Stuttgart, Bremen, Vienna, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt.

The three bald blue characters are now accompanied in their slapstick escapades by a female protagonist, "The Musician," who replaces the traditional band as a multi-instrumentalist. With striking blue hair and an eccentric, otherworldly look, she leads through the program as a sort of shaman-like "Master of Ceremonies." The show has plenty of new twists, but of course it features indispensable evergreens like water twirling drums, marshmallow tossing and color spitting.

The Blue Man Group is a worldwide phenomenon. At fixed venues such as New York, Las Vegas, Boston, Chicago, Orlando and Berlin, the ingenious troupe has fascinated audiences with its multimedia performance for decades, thrilling over 40 million people in more than 20 countries. The Blue Man Group and their hit show are a brilliant reflection of modern times and technological overkill. The Blue Man use the stage as a playground for amusement and wonder. In a tangle of tubes called Tubes, the trio performs with whimsical percussion instruments and obscure sound bodies.

The Blue Man Group emerged from the New York underground art scene of the late '80s. In 1987, Matt Goldman, Phil Stanton and Chris Wink, working for a Manhattan catering company, began as street performers, organizing happenings and doing short gigs in parks and clubs. They produced their first show, "Tubes," at the legendary La Mamma Experimental Theater Club. After that, the Blue Man Group moved to New York's Astor Place Theater. From New York, Blue Man Group began its triumphant march around the globe.

"When we began creating the show around the innocent and curious 'Blue Man,' we never dreamed of this success," says co-founder Chris Wink. "We are very honored to be able to share our show with people in Germany and around the world."

Despite their mass appeal, there is always something mysterious surrounding Blue Man Group that is part of their appeal. With their combination of art, music, comedy and cutting-edge technology, Blue Man Group creates an unparalleled, mind-blowingly funny live experience that builds inexorably to a rollicking, brightly colored party.
