.Daniel Cremer, author, director and performance artist born in 1983, loves to deconstruct everyday situations, firmly established procedures and rituals and to reinvent them with the means of language and performance. And so the offbeat and the absurd are to be expected when the artist and prize-winner of the Frankfurt Authors' Foundation accepts the invitation of the Mousonturm and the Alte Oper to dissect one of those formats that stands for bourgeois cultural assets like no other (and which is otherwise also pursued with all seriousness in this music festival!): the song recital. Cremer describes his experimental set-up as follows: "Daniel Cremer will save the theatre with a song recital that really pleases everyone." The ingredients for this: "Art song with accompaniment on the grand piano, musical, but also electronic music, striptease, tombola, singing circle, modern dance, microbes, love, longing, seance, any theme, also for singing along, in drag or suit, in German and foreign languages." Through it all, Daniel Cremer and his comrade-in-arms, composer and pianist Vincent Stefan, have a noble goal: "It's not about entertainment, but actually about happiness. No one can suppress happy people. The new world is being built out of happiness. That's why this evening fails if even one person emerges from it less happy."
To empirically approach the question of what kind of performance can make anyone happy, the artist is offering free one-on-one concerts by appointment from August 30 to September 3, 2017 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. Register at happy@mousonturm.de
