Brett Bailey & Third World Bunfight: Sanctuary

SANCTUARY is a virtual journey into the surreal terrain of the crisis-ridden EU, where racism and populism are on the rise while surveillance and border controls are rigorously expanded. In a two-year research phase that took Brett Bailey to refugee camps across Europe, he developed iconic settings that both tell of the limbo and realities of life for many refugees and migrants and depict the delusion of those EU citizens who fear them. In his walk-through installation SANCTUARY, a prison-like labyrinth with performers from countries in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Frankfurt, the audience encounters stories of refugees, migrants, activists and translators.
