They are friends and also value each other as musical partners:
Iván Fischer and Sir András Schiff combine the highest interpretive quality with a special ethos.
Schiff, one of the great Beethoven capacities of our day, is one of the Alte Oper's regular artists - his concerts, for example, as part of the 2015 Focus dedicated to him became evenings of the greatest intensity. Conductor Iván Fischer, on the other hand, regularly presents his Budapest Festival Orchestra, founded in 1983, an ensemble distinguished by its esprit and sense of sound - and with which Fischer experiments time and again in terms of orchestral line-up.
As a result, these musicians regularly manage to wrest new sonic dimensions from even seemingly old-fashioned works and to set intense accents of colour. This is also reflected in Beethoven's First Piano Concerto, to which Sir András Schiff and the Budapest orchestra have often devoted themselves together.
As early as 1996, Schiff, Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra presented a joint recording that received the highest praise from all sides.
