Whatever one heard from the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen in recent years, it always showed an exciting new take on the symphonic works of the Classical and Romantic periods. After Brahms and Beethoven, now Schumann follows: over a period of two years, the Bremen orchestra, under the direction of Paavo Järvi, will present their reading not only of Schumann's four magnificent symphonies, but also of his concertante works. Schumann's "Spring Symphony" will be presented by the exceptional Bremen orchestra on the second evening of the cycle. "I wrote the symphony," Schumann himself raved of his exhilarating first symphony, "in that springtime urge which probably carries a man away to the highest age and assails him anew every year."
