That Captain Planet would unexpectedly find themselves in the ZEIT with their 2007 debut album is something the Hamburg band would have been the very last to suspect: "The best punk record of recent years", the feuilleton already knew at the time. Which is not a vote against the band, but exclusively for the ears of the responsible writer. Well, Captain Planet exist for meanwhile 13 years and hundreds of concerts and they belong, not to speak of their also without exception good records, without a doubt to the best, most energetic live bands in this country. They're not about cool, Instagram-compatible gestures, nor are they about shining a light on any scene accoutrements or fulfilling some platitudinous, deadpan exploitation principle. It's about the moment of letting go and rising, of pausing and screaming at the top of one's lungs. About an emotional idea of punk that is as important today as it has ever been.
