Just hip hop? That would be too easy for Casper.
Whether post-rock or hardcore, Casper, born Benjamin Griffey, has always tried something new!
With "Hinterland", Casper has redefined the boundaries of what hip-hop can be. The follow-up to the breakthrough album "XOXO" elevated his sound to a whole new level. A feat of innovation that was rewarded not least with platinum albums, sold-out tours and headlining appearances at the biggest and most important festivals in the republic.
Casper is the great innovator at a time when hip hop from Germany is more exciting and versatile than ever before anyway. And while countless producers and musicians out there were still busy using the "Hinterland" sound as inspiration, Casper was already somewhere else entirely. For months he withdrew, fiddled and wrote together with producer Markus Ganter, recorded and discarded, refined lines and created beats. Because one thing was clear: Nothing should be repeated here, please. That was always the maxim of a man who has always created new musical worlds on his three albums to date. Unofficial basic rule: Whenever the charts sound like the last Casper album, he is already somewhere else.
Now Casper is finally back from the "hinterland". With an album whose title has the explosive power of a Sergio Leone classic: "Long Live Death". With "Hinterland" he embraced life, departure and search. Now Casper goes into the darkness and embraces death, but of course not only that. "Lang lebe der Tod" comes up with numerous musical surprises, presents feature guests that are as unexpected as they are sensational, and above all: a Casper who has questioned himself one more time and has come up with completely new and exciting answers.
Now everything to new, everything to the beginning: "Long Live Death" will be released in the fall, of course, when else, on September 23. It's going to be a long and exciting summer - and then comes death in the most beautiful variation imaginable, which in the end is of course also about this: The love of life!
