Schlossgrabenfest has been held annually in Darmstadt at the end of May since 1999. Today, the Schlossgrabenfest is Hesse's largest music festival and is one of the biggest music festivals in Germany. Besides established bands and some big names of the national music scene, the organizers focus on promoting young talents. Since its inception in 1999, Darmstadt's city centre has been filled with over 400,000 music enthusiasts every year on the last weekend in May. The Hessian music festival dominates the life of the science and student city of Darmstadt for four days. Over 100 bands, 20,000 square meters of festival grounds, 160 hours of live music, culinary delights from all over the world, 4 stages, 2 disco areas, the music styles Pop & Rock, Alternative, Hip-Hop, Cover/Tribute, Singer/Songwriter and SlamPoetry. The Schlossgrabenfest offers something for every taste and age. For the catering of the zigausend visitors provide over 160 stalls with a wide variety of food and drinks from around the world.
