Charley and his friend Ralf have made the acquaintance of two young Swedish girls. The young men in love would like nothing better than to invite the girls to join them in their shared apartment. Charley cunningly claims that there is a big evening party in honour of his old aunt, who has come from Brazil to visit him after many years. In the evening, the Swedish girls arrive at Ralf and Charley's apartment. Strangely enough, all the guests and even Charley's aunt, the guest of honour, have unfortunately cancelled at the last minute. The girls see through the trick and want to leave the party in a hurry. Otto Dernburg, who wanted to pay a surprise visit to his little brother, witnesses the conversation unseen. He quickly grasps the situation and decides to intervene: Disguised as a kindly aunt, he appears and saves the day. Everything seems to be going well until Carlotta Ramirez, the real aunt from Brazil arrives at the door.
Charley's Aunt is a farce in three acts by Brandon Thomas and one of the world's best-known comedies, translated into over a hundred languages and made into several films. Many famous actors have portrayed the role of Auntie on stage and in film.
Papageno Music Theatre has now discovered a musical version of the 1960s work. In Papageno Musiktheater's production, theater director and actor Hans-Dieter Maienschein takes on the roles of Otto Dernburg and Aunt Carlotta Ramirez, respectively.
