Following the German-Chinese colloquium on questions of dealing with cultural heritage, a selection of Chinese folk art will be on display in the Prints and Drawings Department. It is part of a large exhibition that has already been shown in Amsterdam, among other places, and will also be shown in Norway.
Silhouettes, shadow figures and New Year paintings that are indebted to traditional models of Chinese art have been selected from the collection. New Year paintings (Nianhua), for example, include various large prints that are pinned to doors during the Chinese New Year to protect the house and for decorative purposes. Pictured are legendary figures and plants.
